New Courses:
The four mile and youth mile races will be run on courses starting in downtown Batavia.

 

About This Event:
Run like a Fox and win a Turkey on Thanksgiving Day! The Fox and Turkey Races are a Thanksgiving tradition. The races start and finish by the Peg Bond Center near the corner of Island Avenue and Houston Street in downtown Batavia on the beautiful Fox River. There is a Four Mile run and a One Mile Youth run. The Four Mile run is USATF certified. These races are Fox River Trail Runners Circuit Races.

 

Food Drive:
This is a food drive event to help those less fortunate. Please consider an additional donation and bring a non-perishable food item on race day. The money and food will be donated and distributed in the Fox Valley area via the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry. Donations will be accepted at packet pickup and registration.

 

Registration:
Online registration, which is open through November 21st, is preferred. Race Day registration will begin at 6:30 A.M. and will close PROMPTLY at 7:30 AM for the Youth Mile and 8:15 AM for the Four Mile race.

Directions & Parking:
Race headquarters is at the Peg Bond Center, 151 Island Avenue in Batavia, IL, 60510. Batavia is accessible by I-88. Exit at Route 31 and go north about 5 miles to Wilson Street in downtown Batavia. Turn right and go two blocks east to Island Avenue in downtown Batavia. The Peg Bond Center is in the park to the northwest of Houston Street and Island Avenue intersection.
 
There are several parking lots around downtown Batavia. A map is available: MAP

 

Race Timing:
Both the four mile and the youth mile races are chip timed. The chips are to be returned to race officials at the conclusion of each of the races. Race results will be posted on the Fox River Trail Runners website.

 

Four Mile Race:
The race starts and finishes on Houston Street near the Peg Bond Center. The course is an out, loop and back route along the residential streets of northwest Batavia. There is one water station on the course near the two mile mark. This is a USATF Certified course (IL-10100-JW). MAP The loop in the course is run clockwise.
 
The Four Mile race starts at at 9:00 AM. The course closes one hour after the start of the race.

 

Youth Mile Race:
Youth Mile is a race for ages 12 and under. Race starts on and finishes on Houston Street near the Peg Bond Center. MAP The loop in the course is run clockwise.
 
The Youth Mile race starts at 8:00 AM. The course closes twenty minutes after the start of the race.

 

Awards & Prizes:
4 MILE: Two dozen frozen turkeys will be randomly awarded to finishers. Awards for the top three overall Male and Female winners and top three Male and Female in these age groups: 0-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 and over. Overall male and female winners are not eligible for age group awards 
 
YOUTH MILE: (Ages 12 and under): Six Frozen mini Turkeys randomly awarded to finishers. Awards to the top three Male and Female winners in these age groups: 0-7, 8-9, 10-12. Award ribbons for all finishers.

 

T-shirt:
A long sleeve t-shirt is included in both 4 mile and youth mile entry fees. Shirts are guaranteed to the first 2000 preregistered runners. They may be available on race day as supplies last.

 


Packet Pickup:
Race packet pickup is available for those who register by November 21 at the Batavia Government Center, 100 North Island Avenue on Tuesday and Wednesday November 22nd and 23rd from 5:00pm to 7:30pm, and on race day at the Peg Bond Center until from 6:30 am to 8:30 am. Packets can be picked up by people other than the race entrant with a valid confirmation document.

Hot Chocolate, snacks, water
