About This Event:
Run like a Fox and win a Turkey on Thanksgiving Day! The Fox and Turkey Races are a Thanksgiving tradition as we are in our 18th year. The races start and finish near downtown
Batavia on the beautiful Fox River. There is a Four Mile run and a One Mile Youth run.
These races are Fox River Trail Runners Circuit Races.  

The Four Mile race course will be remain open until 9:15 am allowing for a pace of 15:00 minutes per mile to finish.  

The Fox River Trail Runners strongly recommends against the use of baby strollers/joggers by participants in this event. The reason is such that inclusion of strollers increases the potential for injury to race participants and children. 

For safety reasons, the use of headphones or other electronic devices during the race is STRONGLY discouraged.

PLEASE, no dogs, walkers, roller-skaters or bikes are allowed in the races. 

Note:  There are NO refunds, transfers or deferrals.

Food Drive:
This is a food drive event to help those less fortunate. Please consider an additional donation and bring a non-perishable food item on race day. The money and food will be donated and distributed in the Fox Valley area via the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry. Donations will be accepted at packet pickup and registration.

 

Registration:
Online registration, which is open through November 25th, is preferred. Race Day registration will begin at 6:30 A.M. and will close PROMPTLY at 7:15 AM for the Youth Mile and 8:00 AM for the Four Mile race.

Directions & Parking:
Race headquarters is at the Peg Bond Center, 151 Island Avenue in Batavia, IL, 60510. Batavia is accessible by I-88. Exit at Route 31 and go north about 5 miles to Wilson Street in downtown Batavia. Turn right and go two blocks east to Island Avenue in downtown Batavia. The Peg Bond Center is in the park to the northwest of Houston Street and Island Avenue intersection.
 
There are several parking lots around downtown Batavia. A map is available: MAP

 

Race Timing:
Both the four mile and the youth mile races are chip timed.
Race results will be posted on the Fox River Trail Runners website.

 

Four Mile Race:
The race starts and finishes on Houston St. near Batavia Government Center and Peg Bond Center. The course will utilize neighborhood streets west on Route 31. There is one uphill at start and one downhill at finish. One water station on the course near the two mile mark.          COURSE MAP
The Four Mile race starts at at 8:15 AM
The course closes one hour after the start of the race.

 

Youth Mile Race:
Youth Mile is a race for ages 12 and under. Race starts and finishes on Houston St.
COURSE MAP.   
The Youth Mile race starts at 7:30 AM.
Parents, guardians or relatives may run with Youth Mile participants
The course closes twenty minutes after start of the race.

COURSES ARE "OPEN ROAD".  YOU MUST KEEP TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROADWAY AT ALL TIMES TO ENSURE YOUR SAFETY.

Awards & Prizes:

4 MILE:   Awards for the top THREE overall Male and Female winners and top THREE Male and Female in these age groups: 0-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 and over. Overall male and female winners are not eligible for age group awards 
 
YOUTH MILE: (Ages 12 and under):  Awards to the top FIVE Male and Female winners in these age groups: 0-7, 8-9, 10-12. Award ribbons for all finishers.

 

Hooded Sweatshirt:
A heavyweight 50% cotton/50% hooded polyester fleece sweatshirt is included in the 4 mile and Youth Mile entry fees. These are guaranteed to the first 2500 pre-registered runners. Availability on race day as supplies last.

 

Packet Pickup:
Race packet pickup is available for those who register by November 25th  Wednesday November 26th - 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm, (location to be determined)
and on race day at the Peg Bond Center until from 6:30 am to 8:00 am.
Packets can be picked up by people other than the race entrant with a valid confirmation document. 

 

Refreshments:
Hot Chocolate, snacks, water
