Trail CleanUp

The Trail Cleanup was a huge success! Thanks so much to everyone who came:
Carolyn & Allie, Gene, Glenn & Laura, Jerry, Al, John & Callie & Bridger.
The weather was beautiful and actually a little warm for the long sleeves and pants that made it easier to trudge into the brush to retrieve all the bottles, cans, wrappers, flip flop and a carseat!

Heading south, Carolyn and her daughter Allie, Glenn and his daughter Laura, Bob and Al also picked up a TON of garbage, most of it close to the river and far from the trailside. Al returned close to 1pm with a carseat of all things, not an infant car seat but the bucket seat of a car and an arrow.

From the Fabyan forest preserve, Gene and Jerry headed north to the water treatment plant and returned with many bags of trash and recyclables. My family followed behind on recon. My little ones thoroughly enjoyed yelling 'Mom look garbage!' at the top of their lungs.
Thanks again to everyone who came and helped. I really appreciate it and so does the Forest Preserve. Thanks again and see you on the trail! |
